Creating a healthy and wellness-focused city involves various interconnected factors that contribute to the well-being of its residents. Here are key elements that can make a community a healthy and wellness city ( meaning need more of;  we have good coverage):

Access to Health Care: 

  • Availability of quality health care services, including hospitals, clinics, preventive care facilities.
  • Proximity to medical professionals, specialists.
  • Affordable health care options for all residents.

Green Spaces and Recreational Areas: 

  • Ample parks, gardens, green spaces.
  • Facilities for sports, exercise, recreation.
  • Promoting a connection with nature to reduce stress, improve mental health.

Active Transportation: 

  • Well-maintained sidewalks, bike lanes, public transportation options.
  • Encouragement of walking, cycling for commuting.
  • Reduced reliance on cars to promote physical activity, reduce air pollution.

Healthy Food Options: 

  • Access to fresh, affordable, nutritious food.
  • Farmers’ markets, community gardens to support local, sustainable agriculture.
  • Education programs promoting healthy eating habits.

Community Engagement: 

  • Opportunities for social interaction, community engagement.
  • Supportive community networks, social services.
  • Programs fostering a sense of belonging, connectedness.
